His Eye Is On The Sparrow

"Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for heav'n and home
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me."
~
"Let not your heart be troubled,"
His tender words I hear;
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubt and fear.
Tho' by the path He leadeth
But one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me."
~
Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him;
From care He sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me."
~
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
~
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free;
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me."

This song is especially dear to me as when my two girls were small,
they would climb up into the tree branches and sing this song .
"Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one is forgotten before God?"
Luke 12:6

Dear Lady Farmer,

My, you've been busy! Thank you for sharing the beautiful song; how true that He will watch over us, as well as the sparrows, if we allow Him to.

Blessed Sabbath,

Marqueta

I absolutely love that hymn. What a joyous thought that God watches over the little sparrow and us as well.

Thank you for your kind words about my blog design. I am still new at "designing" blogs (It took me forever to get this one the way I like it) and your comment was encouraging. I do love this particular design. It feels so fresh and spring-like.

Blessings

It is such a beautiful song! When I was a teenager, I used to play it on the piano, savoring every word. I felt so close to the Lord. His presence was near.

It is still very special to me. And how much more it must be to you, as you remember your little daughters sitting in tree branches and singing its wonderful lyrics!

God is so good!

Many blessings,

Andrea
