A Sunday Walk

Joining Susan for Outdoor Wednesday!
What started out as a hunt for winter shed antlers turned into an adventurous walk in the woods. No antlers were found, but with a keen eye, other treasures were to be seen. Won't you come join The Gentleman Farmer and I on our walk?
~*~
~*~
As we started out, the field through which we must pass to encounter the woodland, was strewn with these diminutive wild strawberries. The deer know just when they are ready and always get the ripe beauties before me!
~*~
The icon of the Pacific Northwest!
~*~

A representative of my speed!
~*~

I do not know about identifying mushrooms, but this is probably some poisonous morsel. If it was edible, the deer would have gotten it for sure!
~*~

After what seemed miles up and down the trail, Gentleman Farmer shows me the secret little watering hole for the 'big bucks' who rarely venture out from the dense woods. (Not a secret from him ~ he has been checking this spot out for years.)
~*~

Another secretive spot ~ a deer bed.
~*~

The trees became thick and close, and evening was approaching making this gnarly stump appear as an eerie specter guarding the entry to the deeper forest beyond!
~*~

This area was grisly indeed as we found many bones of deer and other animals
scattered about the forest floor.
~*~

Surely this must be a preferred banqueting table for the local coyote pack.
~*~

(Me) Not wanting to be this far into the woods with night quickly advancing, (Gentleman Farmer could find his way out with his eyes closed!) and not enjoying the scenery afoot, we (again meaning me) decided to head back to (safety) the trail that leads home.

No antlers were found, but I did not come home empty handed...
There is always some treasure to bring back to remind us of our commune with God's creation.

The Husband Store

A little bit of humor for your Saturday!

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit the store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors, and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch: You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building.

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

On the first floor, the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men have jobs and love the Lord.

The second floor sign reads:

Floor 2 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.

The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.

She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead good looking, and help with the housework."Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims. "I can hardly stand it!"

Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6 - You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor.
There are no men on this floor.

This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!
Which floor did you stop at?
