I spied her in my garden;
Clasped tightly in each hand,
She held a monstrous posy;
Her dimpled cheeks were rosy;
She smiled and begged my pardon
When near her I did stand.
"I've come to pay a visit,"
She said - the pretty dear!-
"For thirty long days, sir;
And aren't you glad I'm here?"
"Now, what may be your name, please?"
I gently did demand:
"And whose are all these flowers?"
She said "Why, they are ours!"
"I'm June. Last night I came please,
Straight from the Summer Land."

ReplyDeleteHello again!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the funny signature :)~Ken is my husband. I guess he must've done a post on his blog and I didn't think to check before posting! Audrey has caught me using the girls' signature, too.
I found the poem in a book of eBay called "Little Folks Speaker", which must be an earlier version of your book. It's so old and brittle that when we turn the pages they crack. I have to take it to a printer's to see if they can make a copy of it somehow.
Those old books are just precious, aren't they?
Love,
Marqueta
