Resurrection Eggs

Because I never tire of telling The Old, Old Story,
of Jesus and His Love!
Enjoy this re-post for preparing for Easter.
(For you and your little ones!)

Resurrection Eggs!

Many years ago, as a young Christian Mom, I learned of the Resurrection Eggs as an alternative to the secular hunting of "Easter Eggs." You can purchase these as a set of twelve in most Christian Book Stores or online, but, more recently, as I was teaching these stories for 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School class, this was the perfect opportunity to create an "egg" for many of the stories we had studied and what a great review for Easter Sunday! If you have young ones you are teaching at home, what a perfect way to learn these stories from the Bible and be creative with items you find for each story. Make them as you read the stories, hide them, hunt them and let the little ones retell the story as they have learned them as they open them to reveal something inside. Even the smallest child will remember them with great excitement! I brought my Resurrection Eggs to Farmer's Daughter M's house on Sunday. We hid the eggs for the two granddaughters, and 4 yr. old Raegan, who knew many of the stories already, could recite them all back to me after only seeing them and hearing my version 1 time!

Here is my version.

~
I number each egg and write down corresponding Scripture to be read as each egg is opened.

Spring Cleaning Revisited

As I go about doing a bit of Spring Cleaning today,
I was reminded of this poem that I posted a few years ago.
Are you doing any Spring Cleaning?
(Home and/or Heart)

"Dear Lord Jesus:

~

As I go about my housework

Let me see each job I do,

As a service for my King

And a way of loving You.

~

Let me wash away my judgments

Of others right or wrong,

As I wash up the dishes

Place within my heart a song.

~

As I clean up little fingerprints

And lots of muddy shoes,

May I remember how you cleaned the feet

Of the loved ones you did choose.

~

As I mend up torn garments

And sew a button on,

Show me where I need to mend a breech

That's gone on far too long.

~

Let me tidy up my thoughts

As I tidy up the toys,

Let me sweep away my fears

Like the dirt from little boys.

~

May I be just as quick with my forgiveness

As I am with mop and broom,

Sweeping up the clutter

In my heart and living room.

~

May I rinse out pride and ego

As I rinse the bathtub out,

And while we are at it Lord

Let's take care of anger, hate and doubt.

~

Please remind me often Lord

That the way I'm called to serve,

Is an honor given me

And not below what I deserve.

~

You know Lord, as I look

At all the work we need to do,

I think we'd better house clean

At least each day or two."
